Here's a Pyranha kayak repair you needed to see in person to get the full impact of the damage.  It was literally almost broken in half diagonally. The only part left intact was the bottom.

This plastic kayak is made of polyethylene. The only way to repair this material is by plastic welding.

The tan/brown areas you see are somebody's attempt to fix it with an epoxy.  As with all adhesives on polyethylene, it failed.  No other method will work long term or under stress, guaranteed.

This was the worst damage to a kayak we've ever seen.  It didn't stop us.  We love a challenge.  The boat is as sound as it was when it was new.  It shows a few scars, but I bet it'll be fun telling the battle story for this one.
